“Beautiful, but not as high as I thought :)”
Niagara Falls are really impressive. I don't know why I expected them to be higher, but I did. I guess they are so well publicized that they grew bigger in my mind :)! So, when we first approached them, I wasn't really aware we actually arrived at the attraction.
But, don't get me wrong - they are beautiful. I saw them from the U.S. side, and I can tell that Americans were more respective of nature than Canadians (I am neither of the two) and they did not build their hotels right there, on the bank, but further inland, and Canadians actually did exactly that, which kind of spoils the view from the U.S. side. Part of the myth "the Falls are more beautiful when seen from the Canadian side" in my opinion comes from the overall impression of the green parks and the Falls together that Canadians are privileged to view, vs. tall hotel creatures that dominate your view when you look at the Falls from the U.S. side.

Maid of the mist and Cave of the winds are tours everyone must go on! They are not at all expensive. Around $10 each. You get to see the Falls from the river below, or you can get as close as 1m to the Falls. Noone should miss any of these tours.
Did you know that Niagara Falls were shut off three times in history?
